By the end of this lesson, you'll be able to:

  • Trim and stitch a video using the waveform or transcript
  • Remove mistakes using Live Rewind
  • Add call-to-action (CTA) links to a video

Trimming your Loom videos

Trimming refers to cutting out specific sections of your video to remove unwanted content such as mistakes, long pauses, or off-topic tangents. Editing your Loom videos helps you present a more polished final product, keep your audience's attention, and convey your message more effectively.

Trim by waveform

Trimming by waveform allows you to make precise edits based on the visual representation of your audio, called the waveform. This method is perfect for cutting out unwanted sections and seamlessly joining clips.
๐Ÿ‘‡ Click the boxes below to learn how to use this method in different editing situations.

Edit by transcript

Editing by transcript allows you to make fast video edits by deleting unwanted parts from your transcript. This method is ideal for removing specific words or phrases from your video.
By editing from the transcript, you can quickly ensure that your message is clear and free of any unnecessary content, making your video more professional and polished.
To edit your video using the transcript editor:
  1. After recording, click Edit and enhance video from the video side panel.
  2. Highlight the words or sentence you want to replace or remove from your video, using the search bar if needed.

Stitch multiple video clips together

The stitch feature in Loom allows you to combine multiple video clips (made by you or others) into one video. This enables you to collaboratively create content and reuse video clips in different ways.
To stitch multiple clips together:
  1. With the video open that you wish to add clips to, click Edit and enhance video from the side panel.
  2. Click the Add a clip button below your video and select the video you want to stitch, either by selecting from a list of recently created Looms, searching by keyword, or adding the Loomโ€™s URL.
  3. To reorder clips, click the video's name and move the clip left or right.

Use the Live Rewind feature in the Chrome extension

If you make a mistake while recording, Live Rewind allows you to pause, rewind, and re-record sections of your video as you go without needing to start over or use the Loom editor tools.
This feature allows you to trim an error you just made from the end of your recording only. If you need to trim content from the beginning or middle of your video, you can do that using the waveform or transcript editor tools.
๐Ÿ‘‡ Watch this video to see how to use the Live Rewind feature.

Achieve your videoโ€™s goals with call-to-action (CTA) buttons

A call-to-action (CTA) button is an interactive element in your video in the form of a URL linked button. It prompts viewers to take a specific action, such as visiting a website, signing up for a newsletter, or filling out a form. By strategically placing a CTA, you can increase viewer interaction and achieve your videoโ€™s goals more effectively.
You can edit the color, text, shape, and placement of your button to either display throughout your video, or only display at the end.
๐Ÿ‘‡ Click the boxes to explore examples of how CTA buttons can be used.
